Welcome from the Headteacher

As the Headteacher of Wanstead High School, I'd like to welcome you to our website. Whether you are a student, a parent, a prospective parent, or a candidate for a job, I hope that you find this website useful,
and that we can inspire you to want to find out more about our fantastic school.

Wanstead High School is a thriving 11-18 comprehensive school in the heart of the community.

Wanstead High School is at a really exciting time in its development. We have a very positive OFSTED report, improving results, and our staff are totally committed to doing the best for their students. In return the students are keen to succeed.

The key to successful secondary education is to offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is taught well, by subject specialists. That's what Wanstead High School is doing. We are also instilling our students with enquiring minds and strong, positive values that will help them to thrive.

We provide a very strong core of traditional subjects, from Year 7 up to A level, as well as a huge breadth of choice, with some amazing facilities in Performing Arts and Sports. In addition to learning in the classroom, our students also have access to a huge spectrum of extra-curricular activities ranging from after school clubs through to residential trips abroad.

We are committed to providing the very best for the young people in our care, and I am confident we will achieve our vision of providing high quality education with character for all our students.

Wanstead High School’s Best Ever A levels

Our students are celebrating their A level results as Wanstead High School post its best set of results yet - over 50% of all grades awarded are at A*to B, and  nearly a quarter of all grades are at A or A*.

Many students will be using their grades to take up places at top universities around the country. The high grades came in a huge variety of subjects: there were 28 separate A level courses ranging from Classical Civilisation to Further Maths.

These results are testament to the hard work of the students, their teachers and all the support staff. We know that these young people leaving Wanstead High School have a bright future, and we will continue to strive to do better every year so that all our students can look forward to such opportunities.
